The Transfiguration: A Glimpse of Glory

Taking Peter, James, and John up a high mountain, Jesus was transformed before their eyes. His face shone like the sun, and His garments became white as light. Appearing with Him were Moses and Elijah, representing the Law and the Prophets, conversing about His coming "exodus" in Jerusalem.

A cloud overshadowed them, and the voice of the Father declared: "This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him!" This moment of celestial glory serves as a divine confirmation of the Master’s identity just before the long descent toward the cross.

"And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light."
— Matthew 17:2
Timeline Box: The Transfiguration occurred shortly after Peter’s confession at Caesarea Philippi.

Gideon Threshes Wheat In The Winepress

Under the oppressive hand of Midian, Gideon has been secretly threshing wheat in a winepress to hide it from the invaders. The Angel of Yahweh appeared to him, calling this fearful man a "valiant warrior." Gideon’s journey from doubt to deliverance begins with a simple call to save Israel from the hand of Midian.

"Now the angel of Yahweh came... and Gideon his son was beating out wheat in the winepress in order to save it from the Midianites."
— Judges 6:11
Timeline Box: Gideon’s call occurred during the period of the Midianite oppression.

Moses Veils His Face Before The People

After spending forty days in the presence of Yahweh on Sinai, Moses descended with the new tablets of the Law. His face shone with such a radiant reflection of God’s glory that the Israelites were afraid to come near him. Consequently, Moses put a veil over his face when speaking to the people, removing it only when entering the presence of the Lord.

"And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face."
— Exodus 34:33
Timeline Box: The radiant face of Moses followed the second giving of the Law on Sinai.

Editorial: Radiant Reflection

Moses’ face shone because he reflected God’s glory; Jesus’ face shone because He IS God’s glory. We are called to be like Gideon—faithfully doing what we can in the "winepresses" of our lives until the Lord calls us to reflect His light to the world.
