God Promises Abundant Rains For Obedient Israel
As the people of Israel stood poised to enter the promised land, Yahweh reiterated His covenant, promising prosperity and timely rain as a direct blessing for their faithful obedience. He declared that if they would diligently listen to His commandments, He would send the early and latter rains in their season. This promise was vital, particularly in the eighth month (Cheshvan), which marked the crucial period for the initial rains that soaked the ground, preparing it for the winter sowing and ensuring a bountiful harvest.
It shall be that if you diligently listen to My commandments which I am commanding you today, to love Yahweh your God and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, then I will give the rain for your land in its season, the early and latter rain, that you may gather in your grain and your new wine and your oil.
