Exiles Lay Foundation For Second Temple In Jerusalem

In the second month after their return from Babylonian exile, the people of Israel gathered in Jerusalem with Zerubbabel and Jeshua to formally lay the foundation of the house of the LORD. Priests in their vestments with trumpets, and Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, took their places to praise the LORD according to the ordinance of David, King of Israel. Many of the priests, Levites, and heads of fathers' households, the old men who had seen the first temple, wept with a loud voice when they saw the foundation of this house being laid, while many shouted for joy.

Now in the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month... Zerubbabel and Jeshua... began the work... When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, they stood in their places with trumpets... and they sang, praising and giving thanks to the LORD: 'For He is good, for His lovingkindness is upon Israel forever.'
— Ezra 3:8-11
