God Sends Rain On The Earth To Water The Fields

Eliphaz, in his discourse with Job, described the mighty works of God, emphasizing His sovereignty over creation. He declared that God is the one who sends rain upon the earth and pours waters upon the open fields. This divine provision demonstrates God’s care and power, bringing life and sustenance to all creation, enabling the low to be exalted and the mourners to be lifted to safety.

Who gives rain on the earth And sends waters on the open fields, So that He sets on high those who are lowly, And those who mourn are lifted to safety.
— Job 5:10-11 LSB
Timeline Box: This poetic observation of God's power over nature comes from the ancient wisdom literature, reflecting a deep understanding of divine sovereignty over the natural world, likely from the patriarchal period.
