Great Flood Begins As Heavenly Fountains Burst Forth

According to ancient biblical reckoning, the cataclysmic Great Flood began on the seventeenth day of the second month, Cheshvan. This monumental event saw β€œall the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened.” For forty days and forty nights, rain poured down upon the earth, submerging the world and fulfilling God's judgment against the wickedness of humanity. Noah and his family, along with the animals, were safely aboard the ark, representing the preservation of life amidst global destruction.

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened.

Timeline Box: The Great Flood, as recorded in Genesis, is traditionally dated to approximately 2300 BC, during the Patriarchal Era, marking a pivotal event in early human history and God's interaction with mankind.
